What can you expect to happen when you hire a genealogist? What's the research, editing, and final production process like? How do they help you reach your goals? How long will it take for them to help you fill in the gaps of your family history research? Every genealogist and professional genealogy firm works a little bit differently, but here's what you can expect when you hire Legacy Tree Genealogists to help you with a family history research or biological family project.
Why Would You Hire a Genealogist?
When you work with Legacy Tree Genealogists, you're working with an entire team to ensure accuracy and quality. You'll be in direct contact with your Project Manager throughout the entire process, and they will communicate your goals and needs with professional researchers who will help you fill out your family tree with confidence.
Even though there is so much documentation that has been digitized and is accessible online, there is still far more documentation that is NOT available online. We have a network of global onsite researchers to not only help us obtain physical documentation, but they are able to complete any translations required to ensure accuracy and efficiency. This saves you the cost of traveling, and years of learning a new language!
Legacy Tree Genealogists Timeline:
After you talk with a member of our client solutions team and place your project order, you'll be assigned a Project Manager. Based on your needs and goals, they'll assemble the right team of researchers for you. Once all of the research is complete, it will be edited and peer-reviewed to ensure accuracy and clarity. At the end of the research project, you'll have a professional research report with all the documentation in both printed and digital form for your entire family to access.

I have done considerable research on my family ancestry ; but have run into a roadblock with some of the ancestry. Is there a possibility I may speak with some one to determine next steps?
I want to be certain of the accuracy of what I have already discovered.

My mother started researching when the movie Roots came out. She was able to trace her side back several generations however when she was working on my father’s side she hit a roadblock at about the 6-7th generation, a Ralph Curry. I was able to get my Uncle to provide an DNA sample and my half brother because my father died in 1990. I was ready to see a Curry line and was really surprised when the name Clark came up along with Richardson, and Beresford. It seems DNA wise we are not technically one of the 3 lines of Curry. I had some research done in the past and was sent a report. My goal is to match DNA results with the paper trail. The researcher said this particular Curry was formed in England. My grandmothers family is from Lithuania and I finally found someone to fill in the blanks. It is all so confusing and made me just more interested to find out what happened. Was there an adoption? A out of wedlock birth? I am on a fixed income as a combat Veteran and I watch Finding Your Roots and it is always people who can afford to pay the high prices that some want to charge and cannot even guarantee they will find anything. I have searched records in England and on Ancestry there are several trees and all kinds of mis information and I do not want to assume any are correct without the proof tying DNA with the paper trail.

Do you provide autopsy and investigative reports on family members?
Hi, Ryan! When we work on a genealogy project for clients, we look for any documents that are available in different archives or in the family’s possession. We do not produce autopsy or investigative reports. Without more context about your needs, it’s difficult to know what exactly you’re looking for. Thank you for your question!

I like what I have read from customers of yours! I want an idea of cost. I realize we are all connected yet off and on I become very curious and want to know more about the family members I never met! Specifically my Father’s Mother & Father I was a mere 3 months old when my parents divorced in 1960 (it was very likely I was unexpected) and my Father never stayed connected at all- he was dealing with chronic alcoholism and years later died from it. I also am interested in finding more about the only Father present in my life (Mom remarried when I was 13)…we moved to Hawaii when I was 7……he was of 100% Hawaiian lineage, supposedly my biological Father was 100% Swedish. So interesting and I would like to research both! Cost?
Hello, Lehua! We’d love to help you find out more about your family! Someone on our team will be reaching out to you very shortly.
I am searching for my biological father. I was lucky and found someone on MyHeritage with a little more than 10% DNA match. This person is listed as: half-aunt. Second option: first cousin of my father. It also shows a relationship with the daughter of this “half-aunt” and the children of the daughter.
I think it is more likely to be the first cousin of my father.
I have also started comparing photos on “familyresearch.”
What I think I need are all cousins and all individuals directly related horizontally to this “half-aunt.” Ideally with photos. Perhaps you have other ideas. But I am hopeful that this will help me find my father.
Thank you for your support,
Patrick Kuonen.

Good morning! Looking for some tangible information about my maternal grandfather and great grandfather who were originally from Spain but left the country during the covil war and established in the Dominican Republic.
I already did DNA testing and have a whole profile and family tree (paternal more than maternal) in ancestry.
Had been unable to find any documents about my grandfather or great grandfather.
Is this something you can help with?

Hello! I’m German and have already been busy building my family tree for 2 weeks. Things are progressing well on my mother’s side and I’m making it to the 15th century. But there is a paternal branch of the tree that I can’t make any progress on, no matter what I try. Now the question: Can you help me and how much does it cost? What happens if you also run into a wall?
