Lisa developed a lifelong appreciation for family history at a young age. Her great-great-grandmother, who lived to 104, told Lisa vivid stories about surviving a wildfire in Northern Minnesota, schoolboys causing trouble on the prairies, building her own homes, and making her way across the continent to Yakima, Washington, where she spent the last half of her life. She preserved family memories through dolls, quilts, letters, typewritten stories, genealogical research, and hand-drawn family trees. These early impressions instilled in Lisa a deep commitment to preserving the records and narratives of past generations.
Before moving fully into genealogy as a career choice, Lisa spent many years in the airline industry in both reservations and airport operations roles, developing strong customer service, leadership, mentoring, and project management skills through extensive community involvement both under the airline umbrella and in her personal life. She relocated from Washington State to Utah in 2016 and took on roles in a beta team consulting for Varsity Tutors and as a corporate account manager at Bed Bath & Beyond.
After raising her children and recovering from a serious health challenge, Lisa earned her degree in Professional Studies with an emphasis in Advanced Family History Research from Brigham Young University–Idaho (online). She then interned at the Heritage Museum of Layton, Utah, as Special Collections Manager, where she was responsible for cataloging, research, digitization, and registrar duties. There, she found great purpose in making artifacts accessible and seeing patrons engage with the history of Layton.
Lisa lives with a strong sense of heritage as both a mother of four adult children and a grandchild. She enjoys spending time with her dogs, embracing creativity in multiple forms, lifelong learning, and either reading or telling a good story.
