Melissa Scott joined Legacy Tree Genealogists in March 2025 and specializes in uncovering the stories of immigrant ancestors. Based in Pennsylvania, she focuses on German and Eastern European research, helping clients identify their immigrant ancestors, discover their origins, and trace families across international records.
Education and Training
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Scranton, with minors in German and history. She earned a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University and completed advanced certificates in German and Eastern European Records through the International Institute of Genealogical Studies. She is also a graduate of the ProGen51 study program and is currently pursuing an MBA at Rosemont College.
Experience
Melissa has been actively involved in genealogy since 1992 and brings extensive experience in international and immigrant-origin research. Before joining Legacy Tree, she worked for the federal government, building strong analytical and investigative skills that carry into her genealogical work.
