Meet Whitney, Project Manager for Legacy Tree Genealogists

August 4, 2025 by Legacy Tree Genealogists Leave a Comment

Whitney Harper

Whitney’s love of family history began with the stories shared around the dinner table. Growing up in the South, her family was never short on colorful tales – some of which sounded a bit too good to be true. Driven by curiosity, Whitney set out in college to separate myth from fact, embarking on a research project to build a family tree as a Christmas gift for her parents and grandmother. The process not only uncovered fascinating truths but also sparked conversations and connections across generations.

A natural storyteller at heart, Whitney began her career as a producer at a local TV news station and later worked as a video director and editor for the U.S. Army. She went on to work with nonprofit organizations as a project manager, helping them share their missions through video. Whether behind a camera or leading a research project, the common thread has always been helping people tell their stories.

Whitney holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University with dual majors in Television Production and Art History. Now, as a Project Manager at Legacy Tree Genealogists, she loves helping clients discover more about themselves and solve family mysteries through thoughtful, well-organized research.

She lives in Southern Indiana with her partner Beau and their two cats, Tabitha and Bernard. An avid traveler (Iceland is her favorite destination so far), Whitney is also a film buff and has recently taken up cross-stitching.
