Meet Kim, Project Manager for Legacy Tree Genealogists

Meet Kim, Project Manager for Legacy Tree Genealogists. Kim has a extensive knowledge of family history, and has enjoyed working at Legacy Tree Genealogists since she was an intern!

Kim Running Legacy Tree GenealogistsKim Running’s love of family history began as a child while listening to her great-grandmother tell stories of her uncle who, as a boy, ran down the streets of Springfield, Illinois dragging sticks along white picket fences with Abraham Lincoln’s son, Tad. Her desire to learn about her Italian immigrant ancestors led her to study Italian in college so she could more easily read and understand the records that would lead her to discover her Italian roots. One of the highlights of her journey of genealogical self-discovery was to walk the medieval cobblestone streets of Cefalú on the Island of Sicily and wade in the seas where her Italian great-grandfather Salvatore plied the waters as a humble fisherman.

After taking time off to raise her five children, Kim went back to college to study family history research in depth. After receiving a family history research degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho, she came to Legacy Tree Genealogists as an intern. She enjoyed the variety of projects she was able to work on as a researcher, and now as a project manager, Kim gets as excited as her clients do as the discoveries unfold.

Always anxious to gain more knowledge, Kim is a voracious reader – you can always find a stack of books at her bedside table just waiting to be devoured. She loves to share with others how to find their own family stories and volunteers in her community teaching basic family history research. She also uses her skills to contribute to the ever-growing databases of indexed digitized records, contributing over 40,000 names to date. When she’s not trying to solve a genealogical mystery, Kim enjoys hiking in the beautiful mountains around her home, coaxing produce out of her vegetable garden, and spending time with her family.

Kim writes regularly for our blog. One of her popular posts showcases 5 Tips for Deciphering Old Handwriting.

We’d love to help you with your family history, whether we’re breaking down brick wall mysteries, finding your biological parents, or just starting from scratch finding the stories about your ancestors. Contact us today for a free consultation.
