While each family tree tends to take its own wonderful, winding path through history, we’re experts at keeping our research projects on track. Here’s how we do it.
SETTING OBJECTIVES
One of our project managers will work with you to find out what you know and exactly what you want to know about your genealogy, and then figure out the best research package for your needs. Once that’s sorted out, we’ll send you a welcome letter telling you what to expect and when.
DISCOVERING YOUR STORY
We’ll have the best genealogist(s) for the job – based on time period, geographic area or other areas of expertise – efficiently and thoroughly research and analyze your family history. We’ll start our search in the millions of historical records at Salt Lake City’s world-famous Family History Library and in the billions of historical records we can access online. Other records will also be obtained from on-site agents and archives when needed. Once we’ve learned all we can for you in our agreed-upon timeframe, we’ll create a detailed report of what we’ve found, including sources searched and documents discovered.
CHECKING IT TWICE
When research has been completed by your primary genealogist(s), another trusted genealogist on our team and your project manager will both review the work in order to ensure the utmost quality and accuracy.
UPDATING YOUR FAMILY TREE
We’ll create both a digital and a printed copy of your family tree for you, and post the digital version on a private webpage that also includes your research report and scanned documents. This will let you easily share your discoveries with the rest of your family online.
MAILING YOUR KEEPSAKE BINDER
We’ll mail you our detailed research report, a list of sources searched, hard copies of documents and family tree charts in a keepsake binder. Unless you’ve requested a rush project or we tell you otherwise, you’ll likely receive your binder about 4-6 months from the time we begin. We’ll check in with you to make sure you’ve received your binder and to see if you have any questions.
PICKING UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF
Rarely is a family tree project complete after just one research session. In fact, we have many customers who come back to us every few months, year after year, asking us to explore new chapters of their family history for them. Please let us know if there’s more we can do for you after your initial research is complete. We’d love to help you continue to discover your story.
