Upcoming Genealogy Conferences: Come Meet Legacy Tree Genealogists!

abril 18, 2016 by Legacy Tree Genealogists Leave a Comment

Recently we shared an article regarding genealogy educational opportunities and mentioned several conferences. Legacy Tree is excited to announce that we will be attending the National Genealogical Society Conference (NGS) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from May 4-7, and the Southern California Genealogy Jamboree in Burbank, California from June 2-5. Members of our team will also be on the speaking schedule at the Brigham Young University Conference on Family History from July 26-29 in Provo, Utah. We invite you to come learn from the experts in the genealogy field and participate in several days of classes at any one of these events!

At NGS, several of the team members from Legacy Tree will be presenting on short topics at the MyHeritage booth throughout the week. For those who visit the Legacy Tree booth, we will be offering free in-person brick wall and DNA consultations with project managers and professional researchers. Conference-goers will also be eligible to receive discounts on full research projects.

As for the SCGS Jamboree, early bird registration ends on April 23, so sign up now for your spot at the conference and take advantage of the cheaper tickets! On Thursday June 2nd, Jamboree will be hosting their annual DNA day. Join Paul Woodbury that morning as he presents his lecture “Developing a DNA Testing Plan,” or on Thursday evening as he discusses analysis of autosomal DNA in endogamous populations. On Friday morning, Jamboree hosts the JamboFREE Roundtable Discussions which are open to the general public at no cost. Legacy Tree Genealogists will have a table in the DNA tent as well as the expo hall for free consultations, and visitors will also be eligible for special conference pricing on research projects.

Also at Jamboree this year, Legacy Tree has the privilege of hosting the Suzanne Winsor Freeman Student Genealogy Grant Breakfast. The grant was established in 2010 and provides one lucky student aged 18-23 a free full registration to the conference and a $500 award. Purchase your tickets now to attend this exciting event and sharpen your skills in engaging others in genealogical research. Paul Woodbury will be the keynote speaker that morning in addition to the presentation of the grant.

Finally, members of the Legacy Tree team will also be lecturing at the Brigham Young University Conference on Family History from July 26-29 in Provo, Utah. Among the speakers at that event will be DNA specialist Paul Woodbury and Project Manager Katy Barnes. Registration is still open for this event.

Conferences can be fun and effective ways to learn and network, and are beneficial to genealogists of all skill levels. Whether you’re a brand new beginner in search of tips or an advanced researcher with decades of experience under your belt, there is definitely something for everyone!
