Education and Training
Her passion for historical research led her to earn an MLitt in Family and Local History from the University of Dundee in Scotland, where she trained in archival research, paleography, and oral history. She also holds a BA in History from Brigham Young University and has continued her professional development through years of hands-on research and teaching.

Her areas of specialty include: African American genealogy, Southern United States Genealogy Research, Western United States Genealogy Research, family history, and historical burials.
Experience
Amy has been a researcher and educator for over fifteen years, including her role as adjunct faculty in university-level genealogy training. Her editorial experience includes biographical writing, reviewing historical publications, and consulting on genealogical accuracy for academic and public history projects.
What Amy enjoys most about genealogy is the opportunity to restore voices to those often left out of historical narratives. She finds particular fulfillment in working with complex records and helping clients navigate challenging research questions. Amy has been part of the Legacy Tree Genealogists team since 2025, contributing her expertise to a wide range of client projects. Outside of research, she enjoys exploring historical sites, mentoring students, and spending time with her family. Her approach combines scholarly rigor with a deep respect for personal stories, making her a thoughtful and thorough genealogical editor and researcher.
