Elly Catmull loves stories. This is what originally drew her to family history: to uncover and share the stories of our ancestors. She feels it is important to remember that they experienced all the ups and downs of life that anyone does, that they were real people, too. And learning about our ancestors helps us come to know ourselves better. After all, they are a part of us.
Although 20th Century genealogy research is her favorite because of the unique challenges it offers, Elly enjoys managing research in localities and time periods across the United States and elsewhere. Her greatest talent, however, lies in her ability to collect details about a person or family and weave together the story of their lives. She writes for a hobby and has contributed to local news websites and magazines in addition to her genealogy pieces.

She originally started with Legacy Tree Genealogy as an editor and enjoys applying her attention to detail and high standards of quality to her work as project manager. Besides being a talented genealogist and editor, she’s a mom to four great kids as well!
